Artesian – In early 1894, settlers noticed a damp spot in one of their fields. They began hand-digging, and 18 feet down uncovered an ancient stairway, leading to a clay pot with a hole in the bottom. A tiny stream of water issued from the opening. At 276 feet, they struck Artesian water. The well is still flowing today.
